Ragged Falls for a Cause: Supporting The Canadian Canoe Museum
Ragged Falls is a place that has always pulled me back, so donating the painting inspired by it to the Canadian Canoe Museum’s Lakeside Gala felt especially fitting. After spending the spring on display in my Algonquin Reverie exhibition, the artwork went on to help raise funds for a museum that keeps our shared waterway heritage alive. This blog shares the painting’s journey, the event it supported, and why it mattered.

Well how nice is this to come home to. Just back from an incredible Art trip to France and found a thoughtful article in the Glebe Report about my artwork and creative life here in Ottawa.
Reading it back, it’s a nice reminder that the Glebe really is a great place to build a studio and grow a creative life — surrounded by people who appreciate and support the arts.
Big thanks to @Jessie-Lee Wallace for the kind write-up and to everyone at the Glebe Report for championing local artists.
“The Creative Act” by Rick Rubin
Rick Rubin “The Creative Act”
The Creative Act: A Book That Changed How I See Creativity
Every once in a while, a book comes along that doesn’t just make you think—it makes you feel differently about what it means to create. The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin did exactly that for me. It’s not a manual or a self-help guide—it’s a quiet revelation.
I picked it up expecting insights about art. What I found was something deeper: a reflection on life itself. Rubin reminds us that creativity isn’t something reserved for artists—it’s the essence of being human. Whether you paint, lead, write, or simply navigate the world with curiosity, this book feels like a deep breath for the soul.
If there’s one book I could hand to every artist, entrepreneur, or dreamer I know, this would be it.

Commissions: Let’s Make Something Beautiful Together
Commissions are one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. It’s a chance for us to create something truly personal — a painting that captures your favourite view, your family’s cottage, or a place that simply feels like home. When you commission a piece, you’re not just buying art — you’re part of the creative process. Together, we’ll explore sketches, colour studies, and the way light moves through your scene until the moment it comes alive on canvas. Whether we meet at your lake, talk through photos, or share stories about what the place means to you, each step is about connection. Let’s make something beautiful together.

Announcing the Opinicon Rideau Lakes Summer Series: 35+ New Artworks
I’m thrilled to announce my Opinicon Rideau Lakes Summer Series, launching this June and continuing throughout the summer! This collection features over 35 brand-new paintings inspired by the stunning lakes, the big sprawling skies, granite shorelines, and vibrant forests of the Rideau Lakes region.
Each piece captures the energy and emotion of Ontario’s cottage country in my signature high-contrast palette—where electric pinks, deep purples, and bold blues bring these iconic landscapes to life. Each painting is meant to reflect the warmth, energy, and atmosphere of summer.
This summer series will be on display at The Opinicon, a historic resort that has welcomed travelers since the late 1800s. Nestled on Opinicon Lake in the heart of the Rideau Canal system—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—The Opinicon has long been a beloved summer destination for generations of Canadians, Americans, and visitors from around the world. Its beautifully restored buildings and lush grounds make it a perfect backdrop for art celebrating the canal’s natural beauty. Best of all, The Opinicon is just 1.5 hours from Ottawa and 45 minutes from Kingston, making it an ideal day trip to experience history, art, and the beauty of the Rideau.
Visiting The Opinicon is the perfect way to spend a beautiful summer day: explore over 35 new artworks, stroll the historic grounds, and relax on the iconic patio overlooking the lake. And don’t forget to treat yourself to the Opinicon’s famous ice cream—an absolute must on a warm day!
Come for the art, stay for the patio, and soak in the rich history of this amazing location. I can’t wait to share this summer adventure with you all.

Welcome to STUDIO A – Where Art Meets the Shoreline
As summer unfolds across Eastern Ontario, I’m excited to share something truly special: I’ll be exhibiting with three remarkable artists—Adele Webster, Dan Hughes, and Michelle Reid—as part of this year’s Rideau Lakes Studio Tour.
This weekend during the Rideau Lakes Studio Tour at Together, we’ve formed a group we’re calling Studio A— you’ll find four artists brought together by a shared love of nature, light, movement, and story. Each of us approaches our work differently, yet we’re united by a deep connection to the landscapes that surround us. From brushstrokes to lens work, we’re all trying to capture something essential about what it means to live and create in this part of the world.
Studio A—Stop “A” on the tour map—is located next to Davis Lock (Google MAP), a historic gem along the Rideau Canal. It’s one of the most peaceful, inspiring spots I know. You can drive in, paddle in, or dock your boat—there’s plenty of space. We'll have our work on display, some live demonstrations, and a chance to simply sit, talk, and take in the view. Yes, there will be cold drinks too.
This is more than an art show—it’s a celebration of what happens when community, creativity, and place come together

The Mystery of Picasso movie poster
Pablo Picasso Like You've Never Seen Him. Unveiling the Artist in Motion
Most people know the name, but few truly grasp the genius of Picasso. His work is often misunderstood—brushed off as wild or childlike—yet behind every bold line and fractured form lies a mastery of classical technique and a fearless desire to reinvent. The Mystery of Picasso (1956) shatters the distance between artist and observer, capturing the moment of creation as it happens. Long before “process” became a buzzword in art circles, Picasso made it a spectacle.
This blog dives into Clouzot’s groundbreaking film—a cinematic window into the restless, relentless mind of Picasso. What unfolds isn’t just a documentary, but a rare opportunity to witness transformation in real-time. If you've ever wondered what it truly means to create without limits, this is the place to begin.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec: Master of Passion, Lines, and Light
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s work has influenced me in ways I never expected. Over 25 years ago, a visit to the Musée d’Orsay changed how I saw his art—what once felt flat in books came alive in person. His bold lines, raw emotion, and sketch-like immediacy resonate deeply with my own artistic approach.
This blog post explores my personal connection to Lautrec, his unique techniques, and where to experience his masterpieces today. From his expressive line work to his revolutionary poster art, his influence continues to shape the way I create. Art, at its core, is about passion, movement, and truth—something Lautrec captured better than most.

Read MoreWhy Is Art Important?
A few years ago, someone asked me in an interview, “Why is having art in your life important?” I was stumped. Art has always been a big part of my life, like it’s always been there. Growing up, I was surrounded by art. My walls were filled with beautiful pieces, and I loved visiting museums and galleries. Even my friends’ homes had amazing art. It’s always been a constant in my life. So, how do you explain why you need art? It’s like explaining why you need air.
