This year, I’m excited to team up with The Opinicon and the Elgin Food Bank to bring a little extra warmth to local families over the holidays.
I’ve donated one of my original artworks to an online auction, and every dollar raised goes directly toward creating Christmas Dinner Baskets for families in our community. You bid, the funds go straight to the cause, and together we make sure no family goes without a proper holiday meal.
The Artwork: Chaffey’s Mill in the Fall
Retail Value: CA$1,250
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 24 x 30 inches
Collection: The Opinicon
ID: 471
This piece is close to my heart. Chaffey’s Mill in the Fall captures one of the most iconic spots on the Rideau Canal—a place I grew up swimming in, right next door to The Opinicon. I still revisit it every summer. Offering this piece felt like the perfect way to give back to the community that shaped so many of my memories.
Why I’m Doing This
Giving back through art has become a big part of my practice. Through my ongoing Canvases of Kindness initiative, I donate pieces throughout the year to support local programs, charities, and community efforts.
This project with The Opinicon is a natural extension of that—art turning into something meaningful for families who could use a little extra support this season.
How to Get Involved
If you’d like to jump in, you can bid on the artwork here:

Draw Date: November 30
Not into auctions? No worries. The Opinicon team is also collecting direct donations for the Christmas Meal Basket program. Every bit helps.
Community Matters
The Opinicon and their Winter Market partners are sourcing, packing, and delivering full holiday dinner baskets to the food bank. It’s neighbour-to-neighbour generosity at its best, and I’m grateful to play a small part in it.
Thanks for being part of this with us—and for helping make the season a little brighter for families who could use it.
