Visit Studio L During the Rideau Lakes Studio Tour
Summer is finally here and I’m looking forward to welcoming visitors to Studio L during this year’s Rideau Lakes Studio Tour.
For one weekend, my studio will be filled with original paintings inspired by the lakes, islands, shorelines, forests, and waterways that make this part of Ontario so special. Many of the pieces featured this year were created right here in the Rideau Lakes, capturing places I’ve explored, paddled, photographed, and returned to time and time again.
Studio L is located beside historic Davis Lock at 1814 Davis Lock Road, Elgin, Ontario, one of my favourite spots along the Rideau Canal. Whether you arrive by car, bicycle, or boat, you’ll find a relaxed and welcoming place to spend some time, enjoy the view, and explore the artwork.
I’ll be in the studio throughout the weekend and would love the opportunity to meet you, share the stories behind the paintings, talk about the places that inspired them, and give you a look at some of the works currently in progress.
My work has always been rooted in a deep appreciation for the Canadian landscape. I’m drawn to the quiet moments, the changing light, the hidden islands, the weathered cabins, and the shorelines that tell a story. Through each painting, I hope to capture not just what a place looks like, but what it feels like to be there.
If you’ve visited before, thank you for your continued support. If this is your first time discovering my work, I hope you’ll stop by and say hello.

This is the view from my studio on the lower side of Davis Lock—one of the most peaceful and secluded spots along the Rideau Canal. I’ve spent countless hours here watching the light shift on the water, the gates holding everything still for a moment, and the quiet rhythm of boats drifting in and out.
The little white cottage on the hill is the lockstation house, where the lockmaster waits for the next voyager to come through. It’s a part of the daily routine here—a constant presence, tied to the history and character of this place.
As the Canal Pauses Below the Gates captures that pause before movement. The colours in the water, the old stone walls, the trees in full summer—this is the Rideau I live with every day. This piece is one of two in a series on Davis Lock, painted not just from observation, but from experience.
