New Work. New Show – Shadow & Light – June 4

Andrew Milne May 23, 2023

After a great Show last May at The Blue House in Ottawa, I am honoured to be asked to return to share my new Series “Shadow and Light”. In addition to new acrylic pieces, the Show will feature sketches, new 12x12's and some popular favourites for viewing and sale.

Here are the details and a link to the Evite. We hope to see you on June 4.

When: Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Where: The Blue House, 753 Island Park Drive, Ottawa, ON

Link to Evite & Details: http://evite.me/z7Vrgr5P6h

I am always trying to push myself to make changes and learn new things – sometimes small, sometimes a bit bigger. I started to experiment with new angles, new ways in which the light catches objects and where the shadows lie. This was really the beginning of this new series, and I am excited to share this with you at my next Show and then throughout this year as we take new work to other Shows. More on these other Shows later.

Supporting the Community

By Caroline Phillips

Earlier this month I was proud to participate in Harmony House’s 15th Annual Red & White Food Fundraiser. I was able to donate a piece to the auction and attended this fun event. The event raised over $70,000 for Harmony House, Ottawa’s only transition shelter providing housing crisis support for those in need. When I started to get a little more serious about making my hobby into a business, I really wanted to ensure that I could use this art to support causes that I really believed in. I am always happy to do this and am grateful for being asked.

The Ottawa Business Journal covered this event, and you can learn more about Harmony Houses here (and sneak a peek of the donated piece “Gabriel’s Lake”) See the Article here:

Sketches

For those following me for a while, you may understand my creative process. It always starts with sketches. From pen and ink to watercolour. This helps me wrap my head around the space, ideas and colour possibilities. So many of you have commented on the sketches and suggested you would be interested in buying them. All the input has paid off! We are bringing some of these to our next Show (The Blue House (Ottawa) on June 4) and they will be framed. For now, we are going to keep this as a “Show-only” sale to see how it goes. This is an experiment, and we are excited to -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKcngvcb2Dw

Commissions & Feedback

I have been so privileged to be asked to create unique pieces for people who like my work. What’s even more special is to receive feedback after the product is finished and delivered. It’s humbling to receive this feedback, but it also feels very special that I can bring art into your homes. Thought I would share one of these emails.

Any time you may want to talk about creating a unique piece for your space, I am happy to have that conversation. Don’t hesitate to reach out or go here for more information >> www.andrewdmilneart.com/commissions

We have purchased several pieces of artwork from Andrew and love them all!  He has a unique ability to breathe life into outdoor landscapes that showcase a captivating fusion of color and energy, almost as if he is channeling the very essence of nature itself, where the trees, water and clouds are in perpetual movement.  We recently completed a renovation, and purchased a stunning piece from Andrew of Chaffey's Lock - a familiar spot from our youth - and it is now a focal point of our main living room.  We also commissioned a painting for my parent's anniversary and to celebrate my father's triumphant battle with cancer; and it is now one of their favorite pieces!  If you like the outdoors, camping and/or cottage life, we highly recommend you take a look at what Andrew is up to, you won't be disappointed.

ANDREW D MILNE The Artist:

As an impressionist artist, my art reflects our relationship with the environment that surrounds us. I am an adventurer with a passion for camping, hiking, and exploring the world. I am captivated by Canada's stunning landscapes and find artistic inspiration in the breathtaking wonders of my homeland, whether I am revisiting my roots along the World Heritage Site Rideau Canal or embarking on a coast-to-coast journey.

With my brushstrokes, I bring the outdoors to life on canvas, skillfully depicting the interplay of light and color in nature. My artwork conveys the serenity of lakes, the grandeur of mountains, and the untamed beauty of forests, inviting viewers to reflect on their own relationship with nature and the deep connection between humanity and the natural world.

As an impressionist artist who finds solace in the great outdoors, my art celebrates the beauty and wonder of Canada's landscapes and reflects my profound appreciation for the environment. It invites us to immerse ourselves in the splendor of nature and serves as a visual reminder of the impact that the natural world has on our lives.
